SUSTAINABILITY AT LPE
At LPE, we are dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint through conscientious practices across our operations.
KEY INITATIVES
MANUFACTURE OF EXTRUSIONS LOCALLY
Transitioning to local manufacturing for extrusions reduces emissions and aligns with our goal of minimizing environmental impact. The option for lower-carbon aluminium on certain projects allows us to meet these requirements when requested on larger projects.
POWDERCOATING LOCALLY
Local powdercoating minimizes emissions and supports our commitment to sustainability, providing high-quality finishes while reducing environmental impact.
SOLID ALUMINIUM DOWNLIGHTS
Our sustainability commitment extends to all our locally designed and engineered downlights, with a special emphasis on all Kopa downlights being manufactured from solid aluminium, promoting a circular economy and minimizing environmental impact.
MANUFACTURE OF EXTRUSIONS LOCALLY
One key initiative involves manufacturing all our extrusions locally, a move that not only bolsters the local economy but also significantly diminishes transport emissions linked to material shipping.
Our transition from Newcastle, NSW, to Angaston, SA, has resulted in saving over 1kg of CO2 for every 1kg of aluminium used, aligning seamlessly with our overarching goal of minimizing environmental impact.
We have saved in excess 11 tonnes of C02 emissions since our move to South Australian custom aluminium extrusion in 2022. We are still continuously working in bringing more of our product across to this.
Our local extruders also have a lower-carbon Aluminium option linked below. Choosing this eco-friendly alternative when possible and viable, significantly reduces the carbon footprint associated with our aluminium products, demonstrating our dedication to providing both high-quality materials and contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.
By opting for lower carbon aluminium, our customers join us in making a positive impact on CO2e emissions and advancing towards a more environmentally conscious approach.

The graph below compares CO2 emissions in aluminium production. The global average is 16.8 kg CO2e/1 kg Al. Capral's LocAl Green extrusion reduces this by 50% to 8 kg CO2e/1 kg Al.
Capral’s LocAl Super Green extrusion achieves a 75% reduction, bringing it to 4 kg CO2e/1 kg Al.
POWDERCOATING LOCALLY
One significant choice we've made in line with this commitment is to powder coat locally in South Australia. This decision isn't just about convenience; it's a strategic move towards minimising emissions and upholding sustainability principles. By choosing to powder coat locally, we're not only ensuring high-quality finishes but also actively reducing our environmental impact, one coating at a time.

By powder coating locally in South Australia, we've significantly reduced the carbon footprint associated with transporting our products. Our strategically positioned facilities eliminate the need for long-distance shipping, thus cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions linked with transportation. This localised approach isn't just about efficiency; it's about making a tangible difference in lowering the environmental impact of our operations.

Our decision to utilise a local powder coating business in South Australia isn't just about sustainability – it's also about investing in our local community. By sourcing our powder coating needs locally, we're actively supporting the economy of our region. This choice contributes to the vitality of our local small business economy, fostering economic growth and sustaining local enterprises. By choosing us, our customers aren't just getting high-quality finishes; they're also contributing to the prosperity and stability of our region.

SOLID ALUMINIUM DOWNLIGHTS
In addition to localized extrusion efforts, our commitment to sustainability extends to our product line, exemplified by our Kopa downlights crafted from solid aluminium. Solid aluminium downlights have allowed us to achieve a 10 year minimum life from Paint manufacturer/supplier Interpon.
Renowned for its recyclability, aluminium ensures that our fittings can be efficiently recycled, contributing to the circular economy and mitigating the environmental repercussions associated with single-use materials.
